For compliance with the ATEX94/9/EC directive B.O.B. Stevenson has adapted existing centrifugal and mixed flow fan designs to conform to the standards BS EN 14986:2007 ‘Design of Fans working in potentially Explosive Atmospheres’ and BS EN 12499:1999 ‘Fans for General Purposes – Part 5: Specification for Mechanical Safety (Guarding)’.
We are therefore able to offer fans of these types for Zone 2G or Zone 2D applications only which we have self certified for ATEX and for which we have retained in house a detailed technical file.
We are also willing to work with customers to certify other fans of our manufacture for ATEX applications and we are generally happy to complete the electrical installation to a higher class such as fitting Zone 1 motors & terminal boxes.
We do not presently have plans to offer Zone 0 or Zone 1 ATEX fans to the E.U. market.
